Our Founder

Elizabeth Gerald is an expression of a beautiful woman with strength and resilience. We can't always tell what a person has gone through just by looking at their appearance or even by having a general conversation with them. Although Elizabeth has worn her smile very well and continues to greet people with her bubbly personality...she still carries quite a bit of pain. With the heaviness of a thousand pounds of sadness, she does her very best to hold it all together from one day to the next. Her strength has been incredible considering all that she has been through. Losing her 15-year-old daughter Marcie to suicide may have stunned her, but it definitely has not stopped her.

As a Chicago native, Gerald has been volunteering for three decades. Due to her diligence in helping her community amongst others, Gerald created her non-profit organization in 2016, The Marcie Jonea Gerald Movement (MJG Movement) named after her daughter. Since that time and in previous years, Gerald has volunteered at homeless shelters, and domestic violence shelters, giving out food to the homeless along with toys for children during the Christmas season. There is no end to what she won’t give. The most important thing she gives is her time. It is a gift she can never get back, and she's thankful for being able to be a beacon of light in her community and beyond.

Gerald has been recognized and has shared the company with many notables who understand and support her movement. She is active at speaking events and seminars where the focus is on suicide awareness and prevention. She has been honored countless times by organizations who commend her for her strength and her insight to keep sharing the message of love.
